Determining the number of pages of your document

In order to correctly calculate the price of your translation, it is important to determine the correct number of pages contained in your document. If your translation project is made up of more than one document, please add together the number of pages from each document and enter this value as the Total sum. One sheet with text on both the front and back counts as two pages. Every page that contains text (including stamps) counts as a page (as all textual elements are obliged to be translated).

You do not have to provide the original document for a translation (this also includes certified translations). All you have to do is provide a scan or photograph of your document. We recommend avoiding fax machines, because some devices cause parts of the text to be unreadable.

Picture files (JPG, PNG, etc.): Have you photographed your documents? Then every picture counts as one page. Add together the number of pictures and then enter this figure as the number of pages.

PDF files: If you have scanned your documents, they are usually automatically saved as PDF files. Open your files with Adobe Reader (which is free to download here). The number of pages is displayed on the toolbar at the top of the document.

Microsoft Word files (doc, docx, etc.): In the most current version of MS Word you can see the number of pages displayed at the bottom left-hand side of your document. Make sure that your document is in standard A4 format. In older versions of MS Word, you can find the number of pages by clicking the ‘Extras’ function in the main menu, and then on ‘Word count’. The number of pages is then displayed alongside the number of words.

Apple Pages: Select ‘display ’ from the menu and then ‘display word count’. Now you will be able to see the word count at the bottom and in the middle of the document. By clicking on the word count you will also be able to see how many pages make up the document.

Microsoft Power Point (ppt, pptx): Every slide counts as one page. You can see the number of slides on the bottom right-hand side of your document.
