A chat with lingokings CEO and COO

Retrospective – developments at lingoking since 2010

In 2010, the year that lingoking was founded, its service portfolio consisted of a single language service – telephone interpreting. This innovative and straightforward service, which was the only one of its kind in Germany and which was much more affordable when compared with traditional on-site interpreting services, meant that the start-up was awarded with the ‘IT innovation’ prize in 2012, and then again in 2013.

Since 2010, lingoking has expanded its portfolio of language services. It is now possible for lingoking’s 3000+ customers to book specialised translators and interpreters as well as telephone interpreters, whether it be for a B2B environment such as meetings, company events, audits, trade fairs or business meetings, or for a private situation. The selection of the language service provider is carried out according to the needs and wishes of the customer. Sworn translators are used by private customers for weddings or notary appointments. All lingoking translators and interpreters are certified and have specific expertise which they have accumulated over years of project experience. This is the only way for lingoking to guarantee that it always delivers the highest quality standards. Read more about this topic in our quality promise.

Business goals

The CEO sees lingoking becoming a world-wide established online marketplace for all language services. “One of our primary goals is to make lingoking an internationally recognised, dynamic online marketplace, a sort of hub for language services,” explains Nils Mahler.

“In the near future, around 5,000 business and private customers will have access to our online marketplace. The crowd will expand to over 6,000 certified interpreters and translators,” CFO and COO Timo Müller predicts.

Mahler adds, “What makes lingoking unique is the immediate and worldwide availability of our interpreters and translators. Whether its Chicago, Rome, Paris or Shanghai – our interpreters are in action in over 835 cities worldwide. New and exciting assignments are undertaken in all corners of the world. It doesn’t matter whether you need an interpreter tomorrow in New York or Hong Kong, or if you need some contracts or your website translated into several different languages: you can quickly and easily access our online platform. To ensure that this remains the case, we are continually increasing the size of our crowd of translators and interpreters.” Nils Mahler also adds that eventually “there will be no inch of the world map left untouched by the lingoking network.”
